There has been some criticism of the government’s approach – some analysts decry the foregone revenues the government eschewed by continuing with its set-aside policy, in that it limited the spectra for which the well-heeled incumbents could bid. However, SeaBoard takes the position that the choice made by the government to continue to offer assistance to the smaller carriers makes sense as a government policy because it makes sense for consumers. We applaud the government’s resolve to foster a more competitive marketplace and its persistence in policy in the face of occasional cries of ‘unfair’ from the self-interested incumbents and their choristers.
